Ingredients:
1 1/2 lb (750) ground (minced) beef
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon finely chopped mint
1 tablespoon finely chopped parsley
1/4 cup (60 ml) extra-virgin olive oil
1/2 small bell yellow pepper (capsicum)
1 medium white onion
1/4 cup (60 ml) water
1/2 cup (125 ml) ketchup
1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon vinegar
Procedure:
Place the beef in a large bowl and stir in the mint and parsley. Season with salt and pepper
Shape into balls about the size of a wallnut and flatten slightly
Preheat the broiler (grill) on high setting
Heat the oil in a medium frying pan over medium heat. Saute the onion and bell pepper until softened, about 5 minutes
Add the water, ketchup, Tabasco, sugar, and vinegar. Season with salt and pepper
Thread the beef balls onto wooden skewers- 2 or 3 per skewer- and cook under the broiler (or oer the glowing embers of a babeque) until golden brown and cooked thorugh, about 10 minutes
